Fuzzy-Based Nosocomial Infection Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nosocomial, or hospital-acquired, infections (NIs) are a frequent complication affecting hospitalized patients. The growing availability of computerized patient records in hospitals allows automated identification and extended monitoring of the signs of NI for the purpose of reducing NI rates. A fuzzyand knowledge-based system to identify and monitor NIs at intensive care units according to the European Surveillance System HELICS was developed. It was implemented into the information technology landscape of the Vienna General Hospital and is now in routine use.

This study was performed to determine the prevalence and incidence of nosocomial infection with an act...
متن کاملEpidemiological approach to nosocomial infection surveillance data: the Japanese Nosocomial Infection Surveillance System
Surveillance of nosocomial infection is the foundation of infection control. Nosocomial infection surveillance data ought to be summarized, reported, and fed back to health care personnel for corrective action. Using the Japanese Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (JANIS) data, we determined the incidence of nosocomial infections in intensive care units (ICUs) of Japanese hospitals and assessed ...

متن کاملClassification of Infections in Intensive Care Units: A Comparison of Current Definition of Hospital-Acquired Infections and Carrier State Criterion
Background: The rate of nosocomial infection appears to depend on whether it is calculated using the Center for Disease Control (CDC) or carrier state criteria. The objective of this study was to differentiate between primary endogenous (PE), secondary endogenous (SE) and exogenous (EX) infections, and to compare this classification with CDC criteria for nosocomial infections. Methods: ...
